Assignment Task

Topic proposal poster:

Students are required to deliver an academically referenced poster of 800 words which identifies and discusses a topic of interest to them, and students are also required to present the poster within 15 minutes as a recorded presentation.

The topic should be chosen as the initial indication of their initial potential focus for their dissertation and should entail a limited examination of the significance and need for the topic and research.

Additional information

The poster should be professionally presented and may (in moderation and if directly appropriate) utilise diagrams, theoretical models or even images and illustrations to convey the information.

It should be visually attractive and direct the attention of a viewer in a clear, sequential and developing order to relevant components of the topic. It should be fully referenced and help others learn about the proposed research topic and why it is of relevance and interest to a range of different stakeholder groups (such as industry; public; government; organisations etc). In undertaking this it may be of value to include well-chosen and persuasive statistical data.

It should be concise and focussed and consideration should be given to the design and structuring of both the topic and the text and images.

The poster will be presented as an online document based around a concise and focused explanation of a topic. Any additional explanatory document should clearly provide supplementary and complimentary information.
