Task

Using the social and critical analysis undertaken in Assignment 1, you will prepare an Indigenous community development plan.  You will find using the Mia Mia Indigenous Community Development Approaches textbook a useful foundation in developing the plan.  The plan should emphasise working with local Indigenous communities. The plan needs to privilege Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, perspectives and knowledges. Indigenous principles underpinning good practice such as learning about the history of the community, understanding local leadership, partnerships, two-way communication, sustainability and reciprocity need to be reflect in your analysis and approach.

•        a positionality about who you are and your practice (approx. 500 words)

•        Brief synopsis of the issue examined from Assignment 1 (200 words)

•        History, values, demographic and geographic information relevant to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community (800 words)

•        How you would engage with the local community and approach cultural safety in your practice, including the role of a social worker and identification of key stakeholders (700 words)

•        References (minimum of 10 scholarly references which may include readings from the unit reading list)

This plan and assessment are intended to be the first component of an Indigenous community development practice.  You are not to propose strategies or solutions to the issue you have analysed.

Please see the separate CRA for the assessment criteria
