Assignment – Participant profile

Groups will be provided a lifestage. It is the responsibility of the group to generate a profile of your lifestage. This profile should include characteristics of your lifestage, interests/trends/fads that relate to recreation and leisure and marketing tips. You will create a fact sheet that will be handed out to the class with this information. You will also create six programs using this information and a marketing plan for each program created. During your presentation you will:

• Hand out your tip sheet and review with the class briefly.
• Use Power Point or presentation software to showcase your programs and marketing plan. Include brochure copy for each program description.

Characteristics:
Review information provided in class for the various characteristics that you could use to generate your profile. These could include demographics, spending patterns, health issues, living arrangements, and educational/occupational/income statistics. Of course not all of these characteristics are pertinent to every life stage. Do not limit yourselves to the ones I have listed/covered in class.

Interests/Trends/Fads:

What they are buying, how are they vacationing, what are they doing, what’s “in” and what’s “out”?

Marketing Tips:

Look to see how businesses are targeting consumers. Develop a specific list of tips that we can use in marketing leisure programs and facilities based on what the “industry” is doing. Then develop a list of specific tips for marketing RPLS programs.

Example of marketing to Teens-Advertising strategies:

Marketing Tip
Repetition: advertisers hope that if you see a product or hear its name over and over again, you will be more likely to buy it. Sometimes the same commercial will be repeated over and over again

Application to RPLS
Be sure to put your agency logo on everything possible: brochures, flyers, shirts, caps, and bulletin boards…Create a logo just for your teen programs. Sponsor a logo contest.

How do you find this information?

Read the newspaper, magazines and trade journals. Look at what’s around you wherever you go (be observant). Use the web search using your life stage and a topic: Baby Boomers and spending patterns; Children and physical activity/health. Be sure to include a reference page.

When is this due?-Presentations due Tuesday April 21st by 8:00 p.m.
