Too many youths have become demotivated, lacking purpose and distracted. They have turned to committing senseless crimes, ravaging our streets and overall not working to better themselves.
With this project we are aiming to bring our youths, starting with our south sudanese youths together. Providing them with academic, social and athletic support.
Main objectives
1. To form a South Sudanese run association, utilising resources such as educated individuals within our community
We seek to have a committee of professionals in all categories, not just limited to this
- Finance/treasury
- Legal
- Public relations
- Media
- Event planners
- Mental health professionals
2. To facilitate an athletic program
- This program will aim to connect upcoming basketball professionals with mentors, networks and academys/colleges
- Seek mentorship
- Develop their athletic skills
3. To facilitate an academic program
- This program will focus on areas of math, science and english
- that provides help to our youths who don’t have that guidance and assistance at home
- Utilising our educated south sudanese youth to mentor and educate the younger generations
- Assess knowledge gaps and provide them with resources to excel
- Work with youths to gain scholarships in australian primary, secondary and tertiary schools as well as international colleges
4. To facilitate a social support program
- Big sister/big brother mentor program
- Provide a safe space for youth to be vulnerable and have open discussions about mental health concerns
- Provide them with resources to navigate difficult times in there adolescence and navigating growing up in the western world
5. To facilitate parental education workshops
- Programs and workshops to educate our parents to give them resources to help with the youths
- focusing on how to communicate with our youth, giving them the tools and vocabulary to engage with their children
- Workshops focusing on how they can show up for their childrenn, highlighting the importance of be present for sporting events not only academic achievements - a lot of youths felt they could excel in their sporting careers if they just had the parental presence during their games and overal moral support behind closed doors
