Avoiding Misconduct in Science Assignment Instructions
Overview
The purpose of this assignment is to equip you to apply course reading and theological ethics into the types of situations that healthcare researchers and administrators face over the course of their career.
Instructions
You are the head of the Office of Research Integrity at a small Christian university with a growing biomedical science program. At this university, labs do research with both animal models and human subjects, and the program is working to expand its programs to accept graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. You have been tasked with hosting a workshop for faculty members involved in research about ways to prevent scientific misconduct.
Develop a PowerPoint presentation that outlines common areas of research misconduct. What can the university do to prevent these issues? What can the faculty members do to avoid these issues in their own labs? Include a discussion of at least two real cases of misconduct in research and what the faculty members can learn from these incidents. Additionally, include a discussion of how Biblical truths support the university’s goals of avoiding any form of academic or scientific misconduct.
The following elements should be met:
· At least 15 PowerPoint slides (not including the title slide and reference slides)
· At least five peer-reviewed sources, one of which must be a theological source or the Bible. Remember that theological sources cannot simply be a biblical reference without textual commentary/analysis. Do not force the theological reflections, but ground them in evidential, textual, and exegetical reflection.
· Two real examples of academic misconduct.
· Professional slides that include images, data, charts, or graphs when appropriate.
· A reference slide that contains references in APA format.
You do not need to record yourself presenting the PowerPoint presentation, but are encouraged to add a “script” of what you would say if you were presenting to the note section below each slide. This will allow you to avoid slides with a lot of words on them while still presenting all of the relevant information about the topics discussed.
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
