Chapter Three: Part 1 – Praxis Problem Summary Assignment Instructions

Overview

This assignment will involve the development of a strategic plan to be implemented as part of the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal. Chapter three involves a detailed plan for the implementation of a program, process, or product designed to address a practical problem within a specific context. Customization of the plan is essential because contexts differ. Therefore, the student will develop a strategic plan that will most effectively address the particular “praxis problem” facing the collaborating organization or context. While planning, design, and processes will vary based on the praxis problem being addressed and the collaborating organization or content, the strategic plan format will be consistent with the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal outline found in the Christian Leadership Doctoral Programs Handbook.

Instructions

Chapter Three must be a minimum of 15 pages in length and may not be longer than 25 pages. This section of Chapter Three does not have a page length requirement. This chapter must follow current APA style requirements and any Christian Leadership Doctoral Programs Handbook exceptions to those style requirements. This a first draft and will be re-submitted again, later in the course, as part of the Chapter Three of the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal Document. You must include all of the following content in your document. Please follow the heading structure provided.

Required Content:

CHAPTER THREE: THE STRATEGIC PLAN

Introduction

(This should be a brief introduction to the chapter. It should not be more than one to two paragraphs.)

Praxis Problem Summary

(This should be a brief overview of the praxis problem being addressed through this project. This section should answer the question: What are you seeking to accomplish and why?)

Vision Statement

(The vision statement should be a clear and compelling statement of the preferred future that will be attained by implementing this strategic plan. What are you envisioning as the result of this proposed project? A project’s vision must align with the organizational mission, culture, and core values. Keep in mind that this statement should be the same as used in Chapter One. If you make any changes, you need to go back to chapter one and make those adjustments there as well.)

Purpose Statement

(Following the template provided on the Canvas program site, purpose statement (or mission statement) should be a concise statement of the purpose of the project. Ensure your statement answers the question, “Why does this program, process, or product exist?” This should be a succinct statement focused on the program, process, or product, not the organization as a whole. However, there should be an alignment between the organizational mission and the project purpose or mission. Keep in mind that this statement should be the same as used in Chapter One. If you make any changes, you need to go back to chapter one and make those adjustments there as well.)

Objectives

(This section will include three to five major objectives or outcome statements the project will seek to fulfill. Keep in mind that this list should be the same as used in Chapter One. If you make any changes, you need to go back to chapter one and make those adjustments there as well.)

Outputs

(Discuss the immediate product of this effort in specific terms. These should be able to be quantified or assessed in some way using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method data. Keep in mind that this list should be the same as used in Chapter One. If you make any changes, you need to go back to chapter one and make those adjustments there as well.)

Outcomes

(Describe the results. What change or transformational outcomes are being sought through this project? How will you know this effort is successful? Keep in mind that this section should be the same as used in Chapter One. If you make any changes, you need to go back to chapter one and make those adjustments there as well.)

Essential Terms

(List any terms and definitions that readers of your document will need to understand to comprehend your proposed project. For example, are there terms in your purpose statement, vision statement, objectives, or that you anticipate in your strategic plan that will need to be defined?)
