Project Description:
For this assignment, you may work by yourself or in a small group of classmates to identify and apply a development theory to a child/adolescent-aged character from one of the movies listed below. The purpose of this assignment is to help you develop the ability to analyze and evaluate child/adolescent development through a theoretical framework from a social work perspective. Social work practice and research, like other helping professions, draws upon a small group of theories of human development, such as Psychosocial Development (Erikson), Attachment Theory (Bowlby), Social Learning (Bandura), and Sociocultural Theory (Vygotsky). However, social work differs in its application of such theories because of the profession’s unique perspective (e.g., person in environment, strengths-based, human plasticity, etc.).
Each group must post their movie choice in the discussion board by Saturday of Week 2. All group members must participate in the video presentation.
