Directions: Over the past four weeks, you have performed eight analyses of your chosen organization, and have received feedback on those analyses from your section leader. This week, your assignment is to integrate your analyses into a single proposal for what you believe your organization’s strategy should be, based on your analyses from the previous four weeks. To do this, you must use the feedback you received to make changes to your analysis, acquire any new information you need from your organization to respond to that feedback, and synthesize the insights that you generated from your analysis into a single, coherent proposal.
The final proposal should be greater than the sum of the individual analyses you did over the past four weeks. The data and insights you acquired from each assignment should be integrated into a final product. If done well, the integration process will likely generate new insights as you write this proposal and will also help you to create a proposal that is more than the sum of its parts.
To help you think through how to do this, we suggest formatting your proposal into the following sections:
The Situation. What is the core challenge (or core challenges) that the organization faces for the next ___ years?
Overarching Framework for Action. Once the core challenge or challenges that your organization faces is clear, come up with a framework for guiding how people throughout the organization should think about responding to this challenge.
Coherent Action Plan. This is where we move from policy to planning. Give broad direction of how people throughout the organization should implement the overarching framework.
Please note, however, that every organization’s strategy is unique, and there may be better ways to format your assignment than this, given the unique aspects of your organization. The goal is to achieve data-driven insight, not to follow a format. If you are unsure of the best way to integrate your data and insights across the weeks, and what format to use to achieve this, reach out to your section leader or course designer as needed during the week to seek their advice, input, and feedback.
We will loosely use the criteria in the second column of the table below to grade this assignment. The criteria will be used loosely because, as stated above, every organization is different, and the strategies they use should be different. Therefore, we expect each assignment to be a little different. Thus, the criteria in the second column are guidelines for our grading, not strict criteria.
Rubric for Strategy Proposal
Final Project Week Five Assignment Grading Rubric.docx
As with each of the previous weeks, please use proper citations for this assignment. Specifically, please indicate which information you received from your contact(s) within the organization, what you received online, where your strategy concepts came from (e.g., textbook, online presentation), and so on. If you used generative artificial intelligence (such as Chat GPT or Copilot) to assist you, make sure to say exactly what content it generated, and what prompts you used to generate that content. However, be careful. Generative AI is often wrong, makes up citations, critiques poorly, and fails to synthesize information meaningfully. If you do not catch these problems, you will lose points for them.
Your analysis may be as long or as short as it needs to be, but you should not add content just for the sake of adding content. Assignments that convey more insight and information in less space will be graded better than assignments that dump information into the document. .
