Task summary: Produce a “pitch” to propose a digital health and care initiative, which will enhance, improve, or transform an aspect of health and social care service delivery. You should end your pitch with a reflection on how you have used what you have learned in the programme so far to create your pitch.
The pitch should be presented:
as a written word document (3000 words, broken up into 2500-word pitch and 500-word reflection), or as a presentation with embedded audio recording (15 minutes, broken up into 12.5-minute pitch and 2.5-minute reflection) The choice is your responsibility, and all options offer an equal opportunity to demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes. Regardless of format chosen, you should ensure you include high-level critical analysis, use of evidence and engagement with theory.
Assignment instructions: The pitch should:
outline a problem or issue in health and care for resolution. showcase the proposed digital initiative. analyse the value and benefit of digital technologies for different stakeholders. discuss the risks and challenges associated with digital solutions. include demonstration of digital health leadership skills, for example through the use of relevant change management model(s) and/or the use of a digital badge that can be achieved by the workforce upon implementation of the initiative. end with a 500-word reflection on how you have used what you have learned on the programme so far, and how this knowledge and skills have contributed to the development of your digital health initiative pitch. (A digital badge is a training or educational element to the initiative, which should be suitable for the health and care workforce in question to demonstrate their understanding/skills in the implementation. This aspect demonstrates your leadership skills and supports awareness of the development of the workforce to enhance their own digital skills.)
You can use an AI tool of choice to discuss your digital health initiative with and ask it to provide some issues or concerns that relevant health and social care stakeholders may have with your initiative. You can use these discussions to then inform and refine your pitch, factoring in these potential issues and concerns that key stakeholders may have and how to address them. Please include screenshots of your conversation with the tool as an appendix for transparency.

You will be assessed on:
Theoretical:
Your explanation of which theoretical service you are focusing on, and the population affected by the issue that you wish to resolve. How you provide background context on your theoretical setting and population of choice. What are your chosen population affected by your selected issue? Include relevant data trends/study findings/policy objectives to demonstrate the current state of the problem. Your explanation on why the issue needs to be addressed to improve the quality of service/population experience? Your understanding of the concept of digital health and the overall aims of existing digital health innovations. Your understanding and awareness of the different types of digital health tools, giving a brief overview of current developments in digital health in the health and social care sector. Your understanding of the economic, social, legal, ethical, and political context that influences the design and implementation of current digital health innovations Your understanding of the key benefits and challenges associated with current digital health technology and the impact of digital health tools on key stakeholders (patients, health/care staff, public) Your ability to define your digital health tool and identify which digital health group it belongs to (mobile applications, smart wearable devices, telehealth, telemedicine, artificial intelligence etc.) Your ability to demonstrate your digital health tool’s strengths and limitations by drawing upon a range of current and relevant literature to support your rationale and justify your choice of initiative to resolve the issue identified for all stakeholders (patients, health care staff, public etc) Your ability to identify a leadership style/s and consider what leadership skills YOU would need to adopt to implement this initiative, e.g. transformational leadership Your understanding and application of relevant leadership theories and approaches, such as change management model(s) Your ability to explain how you would motivate your team (you may choose to increase staff motivation by offering a digital badge to demonstrate competencies). Your ability to provide a summary closure for your pitch, summarising the importance of your digital health and care initiative and how it impacts your designated health and care service. Your ability to clearly and effectively reflect on your learning and skills development so far in the programme, and how this has influenced your pitch creation. Soft Skills:
Verbal Communication: Your ability to clearly express ideas through spoken language. This includes clarity, coherence, and adaptability. Written Communication: Your ability to effectively convey information, analysis, and arguments in writing with supporting evidence. This module is marked using the Arden University Categorical Marking Criteria
You will have one opportunity to receive written feedback on your draft submission, covering up to 750 words or 4 minutes (equivalent to 25% of word limit/time limit). The deadline for submitting your draft for feedback is the end of teaching week 8. Additional support is available through the module leader’s drop-in sessions; please check iLearn for the session timings.
Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and the exact word count of your submitted document; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in (see referencing section for more information). You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work.
You must not include your name in your submission because Arden University operates anonymous marking, which means that markers should not be aware of the identity of the student. However, please do not forget to include your STU number.
