Module 3: Resilience
This assignment is worth 20 points.
Understanding Lack of Resilience
Lack of resilience is blamed for increasing mental health disorders, unhealthy coping strategies, and acts of violence among several other negative characteristics. Before we can “fix” the problem for future generations, it’s helpful to first understand what resilience is NOT. Provide a definition in your own words. This is not simply the opposite of the definition of resilience such as, “resilience is when people can’t adapt to adversity.” (2 points)
In 50-100 words, tell a story demonstrating what resilience is NOT. This could be a real or fictional story. (2 points)
Now find a meaningful definition of resilience (2 points) from a reliable source with a reference in APA format (1 point).
Addressing Resilience
Consider an activity proven to improve resilience among the population you may be working with in your future career.
1. Your future career / workplace: What is your title? Where do you work? (2 points)
2. Priority population: What age group and type of population will you work with? Be as descriptive as possible. (2 points)
3. Concern: What is the concern about this priority population’s resilience? Why do you have this concern? (2 points)
4. Activity: Create an activity you believe will increase their resilience. Describe. How will you implement this activity in your workplace? (4 points)
5. Resource: Identify one resource that provides evidence this activity will increase resilience. Include what this resource states, such as results of a study, (2 points) and a reference in APA format (1 point).
