Essay on Impact of Energy Generation on the Environment
The aim of the essay is to demonstrate awareness of how concepts learnt in Thermal
Fluids Eng 1 are used in everyday life and impact on society and environment.
The main task of the essay is to discuss:
1. Impact on environment during energy generation/conversion by burning fossil fuels:
Discuss with as much detail as possible how the environment is impact during energy generation/conversion. Discuss issues such acid rain, global warming etc
2. Non-fossil fuel based energy generation: Discuss at least two examples how energy can be harvested without negatively impacting the environment.
Write an essay to discuss the items listed above. In your essay, provide scientific reasoning / explanation with as much detail as possible.
You can submit this either as individual or group work. The maximum number of students in group is 5. Members of a group will receive identical marks.
If submitted as group work, the names and ID of ALL students must be listed on the first page of the submission.
You can include images from websites. If you do so include a reference list at the end of the essay.
The essay must:
• be an original work that is individually written or in a group (it will be checked for plagiarism
• not less than two A4 page and not more than five A4 pages in total including references etc.
• If the essay contains figures, these figures should not exceed a maximum of one A4 page in total
• Cover page (if used) is not included in the page count
• be typed written using Calibri Body font, size 11, single spacing between lines.
• not exceed 2.5 MB
