Scenario Summary: In late 1996, Gary Hetherington and his business partner, Paul Caddick, took over the failing Leeds RLFC (Rugby League Football Club), determined to turn around the club's fortunes. The scenario determines the turnaround journey of the Rugby League Football club, with reference to leadership, coaching and innovation. It's a classic example of a learning organisation. Please note, the full case study is shared in the assignment section.
In the report, please answer (in no specific order) the following questions.
- What are the major lessons that can be learned from this case study on leadership and organisational learning? Discuss the pros and cons of the strategy developed and used by Hetherington at Leeds Rhinos. What do you foresee as the major future challenges for Leeds Rhinos, and how would you go about dealing with these?

Your report (1000 words) will be a full written individual response to the organisation's leadership, learning and innovation scenario, demonstrating your understanding of the frameworks of good practices, underlined theories, models and concepts we discuss during the lectures and workshop, and your ability to apply these for the analysis of the scenario.
It should contain the following sections as follows:
a) Introduction
Explaining the scenario and the requirements of the brief.
You should undertake further research to enable you to explore the organisational business context. Your understanding of the requirements of the assignment and your assumptions.
b) Critical Analysis
Exploring the principles underlying good practice, Leadership, organisational learning, and innovation using appropriate definitions, theories and models, and making use of the questions provided.
- Strategies: what is the organisation's strategy, mission, vision, aims or values?
- Leadership: How is the current leadership style, and what could be future challenges? Which leadership style may be more conducive?
- Business-led: What are the PESTLE factors influencing its business requirements?
- Structure and culture: How is the organisational culture and structure?
- Adding value: critically discuss how the organisation can create business value through leadership, organisational learning and innovation.

- Give a clear summary of the proposed solution and implications of the overall analysis with reference to the organisational context.
