MENTAL HEALTH POLICY ANALYSIS PAPER (worth 20% of Final Grade)

This 6-7-page paper allows you to demonstrate and analyze a mental health policy or service of your own choice. You should explore the historical development of the policy in a particular area, examine challenges in providing culturally sensitive practice for a specific racial, ethnic, or social group, and examine how policies increase or decrease access to treatment. The paper should consist of the following:

• A clear statement of the policy issue or problem

and examination of any controversy or debate

• Discussion of relevant scholarly literature (minimum 3-4

sources required)

• Recommendations for ways policies or practices can

improve

• Discussion of ways social workers can advocate for change

• APA formatting, paying close attention to spelling and

grammar, meeting minimal page requirement

The 6-7 pages do not include the cover and reference pages. If your paper is six pages of information, then your paper is eight pages, which includes your cover and reference pages.
