MGMT 4311: Regional Analysis (RA) Project Directions

 Project Content

Related to topics covered in this class, each team will investigate and determine the most critical issues (Ethics/Corruption, FDI, etc.) that impact business development within their region. In addition, include at least two structural variables [Political (system, risk index), economic (stats/index numbers: GDP, market size, ease of doing business, economic freedom, etc.), legal (transparency), geographic (trade bloc membership, geographic advantages & disadvantages), technological, and/or infrastructure] and cultural issue/s [How nation’s specific culture will influence leadership style and employee management & decision making (individualist vs collectivist)]. 

The work should analyze 3 nations within the region and utilize the content of at least 5 textbook chapters; therefore, each team selects the specific nations in the region and textbook chapters that best analyze the prevailing business environment. In the final paragraph the team will select the best nation in which make an investment. The team has to provide evidence supporting their decision    

The Project document content criteria are as follows: 

• Please see a brief example at the bottom of this document.
• Research the assigned region (e.g., business activity, current news, historical events, etc.) and identify several articles and/or websites that relate to specific chapters and topics.
• Utilize section titles as follows: Region Overview Nation(s) Analysis, Managerial Implications, Current Events and References.  Your submission should not include long lists of data or bullet points (an Appendix is best utilized for that type of information); instead only include country/region information that relates to textbook chapter content. The Nation(s) Analysis and Managerial Implications sections should represent the majority of the written analysis submission.  Exclude Table of Contents, Executive Summary, and/or Abstract sections.
• Utilize an Appendix section to include supplemental information such as data lists/charts/graphs, geographic maps, etc.

Include a PPP chart (purchasing power parity)

The Region Overview (two paragraph; 1 page) describes the area as related to the class topic and does not contain extraneous information and data.

The Nation(s) Analysis (3 paragraphs) should in the first sentence concisely state the specific nations selected to analyze and the rationale supporting the decision. The section will analyze the selected nations based on specific chapter-related terms, theories, concepts, etc. that are most pertinent to the chapter topic, not all nations in the region list. The analysis demonstrates the selected nation’s ability to support and/or hinder foreign investment for business development.

The Managerial Implications should present analysis of data and facts about how the nation(s) are creating and/or inhibiting business development there or how an individual firm manager will manage specific issues within that region.

The Current Events (one paragraph; ½ page) describes one or two recent occurrences directly impacting business operations within the nations analyzed.
