Part I: The Campaign: A PSA highlighting a particular attribute needed for the career
The professionalism of criminal justice practitioners is often called into question. While improved training is one of the proposed solutions, this course was developed with the belief that personal development both before and ongoing during employment can effectively work as a mechanism to increase commitment to the agency and improve one's overall performance.
Students will create and present an informational campaign to draw attention to one essential attribute needed to be an exceptional practitioner in a chosen career. In Group Reflection #3, your group was asked to differentiate between employees/ students who you envision being minimally effective, average, or exceptional. Your group likely listed several attributes that separate the least effective from the most effective. Think back on those attributes and identify the ONE that is a "must have". Your campaign will communicate the importance of this attribute and why it is critical to the career. Recognizing that it must be developed, include action steps that can begin the development process. In other words, how would a current student start to develop this area? This campaign will be a PowerPoint presentation.
