Overview
Victimology is an important contribution to the criminal justice discipline; however, it is not without controversy. As you will learn, victimology is the scientific study of the psychological effects of crime and the relationship between victims and offenders. Consequently, some may consider including the relationship between victims and offenders as a form of victim blaming, while others see the benefit of exploring that relationship to acquire important information about the crime. In this assignment, you will take a position on whether victimology is victim blaming.
The purpose of a position paper is to generate support on an issue. It describes a position and the rational for that position. While it is your position, the position paper is based on facts that provide a solid foundation for your argument.
