(Second grade class) This student sums up some of the important aspects of learning Language Arts. In the Week 4 Assignment, you collaborate with your host teacher to create a Language Arts lesson incorporating critical thinking, problem solving, technology, instruction, and guided practice with written language. You use the "Elementary Education Lesson Plan Template" document to plan, you teach the lesson, then reflect on the results. Be sure to address each element in the template for this activity. In Week 4, you create a Language Arts lesson plan that integrates technology. As you plan your lesson, be mindful of the technology resources that you have available in your classroom (context) and how that technology will be used to impact student learning. Keep in mind TPACK, especially the context, as you plan the lesson. Refer to course resources and the Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) for additional ideas for integration. You will reflect on this lesson again during your first Major Assessment completed in Week 6. TO COMPLETE Collaborate with your host teacher to create a Language Arts lesson that integrates the following components: Critical thinking Problem solving Technology Instruction and guided practice with written language Complete the "Elementary Education Lesson Plan Template" document. After preparing your lesson, schedule a time with your cooperating teacher to teach the lesson. Complete the Teacher Reflection section on the template immediately after you teach the lesson. Guiding questions are provided to help frame your …………….,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,———————————————— Part2 Think about the activities you have observed in your Field Experience and the needs of the students in the classroom. Review the resources, the Center-Based Lesson Plan Template document, and the Directions and Sample Center-Based Lesson Plan Template document. You will note that the Center-Based Lesson Plan Template document includes a chart for you to differentiate the activities based on three tiers of instruction across the five components of literacy. Be sure to view the sample to understand. Using the center-based lesson plan documents, provided in the Week 4 Learning Resources, design a center-based unit addressing the five components of literacy. Create at least five centers for varying levels of ability using the three tiers, and include notations of how each of the following aspects was addressed in the planning (the Directions and Sample Center-Based Lesson Plan Template document provides notations on these aspects): Health-enhancing movement Integration of arts Vocabulary instruction Media communication and technology A range of literature that includes several text structures (for example, narrative, scripts, poetry, lists, etc.) Work closely with your host teacher when designing these centers. Be sure to differentiate based on the needs of the students in the classroom by using the three tiers. Implement your center-based lesson plan in the placement by the end of Week 4. Take detailed notes during the lesson to develop the Reflection section of the Center-Based Lesson Plan Template document.
