This report completes the arc that began with your topic and literature review (Assignment 1) and your interviews and initial coding (Assignment 2) — you are building on that work, not repeating it.

- Conceptual Model Development and Presentation Assessment Requirements This is your own, original work. Do not copy text from readings or other sources, and do not use AI writing or paraphrasing tools. Submit a well-organized Word document of approximately 4,000–5,000 words. Prepare a short slide presentation (PowerPoint or Google Slides) and submit the file or a shareable link. Formatting: Times New Roman, 12pt, 1.5 line spacing for the body text; 1.0 line spacing for the reference list. Use APA 7th-edition referencing throughout (see scribbr.com/apa-style/apa-seventh-edition-changes). Report Structure (30 Marks) Abstract (5%) A concise summary of the conceptual model: dataset, refined themes, theoretical framework, and key findings. Introduction (10%) Restate your refined research problem, building briefly on Assignments 1 and 2 — this should be a short recap, not a new derivation. Outline the structure of this report. Refined Methodology (5%) Note any changes to your method since Assignment 2, and why. Provide refined coding and categorization steps. Revisit the themes from Assignment 2 and critically sharpen them. Findings: Refined Themes & Theme Tree (30%) Report your findings: present your refined themes and subthemes with supporting evidence (quotes/excerpts) from your data. Show the patterns and relationships between themes — a thematic map or theme tree is the standard way to present this. Use diagrams, coding matrices, or visualizations to present the refined themes. Include refined NVivo screenshots showing the steps you took to refine the themes. This section reports what you found. Save the comparison to theory and literature for the Discussion section below — that is where it belongs. Discussion (a): Comparing Your Findings to the Literature (10%) This is not a new literature review — you already did that in Assignment 1. Briefly remind the reader what that review concluded (2–3 sentences, referencing your own earlier work, not rewriting it). Then discuss how your findings relate to that literature: the similarities, the differences, and what your findings contribute that the existing literature did not already show. Only bring in new sources if your findings pointed to something your Assignment 1 review did not cover — and only enough to address that specific point (typically 2–5 sources, not a new 10–15). If nothing new came up, say so and explain why your original review still holds. Discussion (b): Conceptual Model (20%) Build a conceptual model from your refined themes and the literature comparison above, and explain how its parts connect. Justify the core constructs you have included. Include a diagram or flowchart visualizing the model. Discuss what the model means in practice. Note: proposing a model is optional in most qualitative studies, but it is the specific purpose of this assignment (Conceptual Model Development, per the course syllabus) — so for METH2B it is a required part of the report, not an optional add-on. Reflection & Refinement (5%) Challenges encountered while developing the model. How your approach evolved since Assignment 2. Ideas for extending the model in future work. Conclusion & Recommendations (5%) The final conclusion for the whole project: your key contribution. Recommendations for practice and for future research. References (5%) Finalize the single reference list you have been building across all three assignments — a minimum of 10–15 peer-reviewed sources overall (last 5 years), not per assignment. Also list the documents used in NVivo and any videos or online resources consulted. Academic Writing & Structure (5%) Clear, concise, well-organized, correctly formatted, and free of grammar errors. Individual Presentation (10 Marks) Time limit: 25 minutes, plus 5 minutes of Q&A. Presentations are face-to-face, in your assigned class slot; attendance is required and there is no make-up.
