If some of your Part 1 observations may not fit the topics we have covered yet, they may relate to topics coming later in the
course, including:
• Communication
• Conflict and conflict management
• Power and decision-making
• Work-family balance
• Becoming a parent and parenthood
• Family stress
• Separation and divorce
• Remarriage and Stepfamilies
Review your observations and identify any that might connect to these areas. If you have access to the textbook, you are
encouraged to look ahead at the relevant chapters and identify specific concepts that may help explain these observations. If
you do not have access to the textbook, no worries! You do not need to identify or define the specific concept yet. Instead,
simply identify the general topic area and the rationale of why you think the content may be relevant. As each new module
opens in Weeks 5-8, you will have another opportunity to return to your notes and add or revise the specific course concepts.
Step 3: What to Submit
Organize your Part 1 observations and the potential concepts/topics that could help you analyze them. You may use a table,
