Task 1: Trending Experience

Description

Students are given series of exercises that explore the current, popular trend in the market to give them better understanding of the technologies and the knowledge in creating content for those technologies. Students will conduct research and experiment to find out features and limitation which will later allows them to make decision on which technologies they should proceed with in their final project.

The Taylor's Graduate Capabilities Portfolio is a document that collates all assessments produced in a module and reflects a student's acquisition of the Module Learning Outcomes and Taylor's Graduate Capabilities. Each student is to develop an e-portfolio (a web-based portfolio) in the form of a personal academic blog. The TDS student portfolio is developed progressively for all modules taken throughout Semesters 1-5.

Requirements

To complete all exercises to demonstrate understanding the development platform fundamentals.

Task 2: Experience Design Project Proposal

Description

Based on initial idea discussions, students are required to come up with an experience design project from a subject/topic of their choice. This can be anything from screen experience to physical space experience. They are required to create a professional experience design proposal document that explains their project idea and how will the experience be for the user. The proposal should contain analysis of current experience, comparison with similar solutions and how it can be better, Sketches to visualize the experience, Mock design of how the final outcome should be from the user's perspective.

The project looks to develop the students' understanding of what is an experience design and their creativity to come up with a good, unique, and magical experience design. It also looks to their ability to analyze, explain and breakdown their ideas into a proposal document.

Learning Goals

Strategic Communication Competencies - Conduct oral and verbal presentation to persuade and illustrate ideas and concepts in a multidisciplinary setting as a team or an individual.

Task 3: Creative Experience Design Project Prototype

Once their proposal is approved, the students will then work on the prototype of their project. The prototype will enable the students to discover certain limitations that they might have not learnt about before and they'll have to creatively think on how to overcome the limitation to materialize their proposed ideas. The objective of this task is for the students to test out the key functionality of their project. The output may not necessarily be a finished visually designed project. The students will be gauge on their prototype functionality and their ability to creatively think on alternatives to achieve the desired outcome.

Requirements

1. Screen Design visual prototype (Figma)
Requirements
2. Functioning MVP of the App Experience

Submission

1. Video walkthrough and presentation of the prototype

2. Online posts in your E-portfolio as your reflective studies

Learning Goals

Technical And Digital Media Competencies - Generate and communicate design concepts and solutions through manual or digital skills effectively and skillfully.

Final Project & E-portfolio

A) Final Project - Completed Experience

Students will synthesise the knowledge gained in tasks 1, 2 and 3 for application in task 4. Students will create integrate visual asset and refine the prototype into a complete working and functional product experience.

B) E-Portfolio

Students describe and reflect on their social competencies within the design studio context, supported by evidence. Reflect on how to empathize with others within group settings, interact positively within a team and foster stable and harmonious relationships for productive teamwork. The reflective writing is part of the TGCP.

Learning Goals

Critical Thinking Competencies - Use ideation strategies to synthesize assess and evaluate prototype/final product outcomes for further development.
