HWS6009-C Assessment Overview
The scenario.
You have been appointed as a public health officer for either:
-A local authority (e.g. Bradford, Birmingham, Newcastle).
-The UK Government-Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (Public Health England).
-The World Health Organisation (WHO).
You have been assigned to identify a significant public health issue, and provide potential solution(s) (programme, intervention, policy) to the health issue in question.
You can choose the location of your work as either:
- A local authority in United Kingdom (e.g. Bradford, Birmingham, Newcastle etc).
- National
- International/global
There are two components of the assessment. The first is a proposal outlining the approach you will be taking to plan your future health solution/intervention. This will enable you to receive feedback regarding your thinking and approach, before you begin your work. This proposal needs to be presented. The 1000 words stated for the proposal is indicative to allow you to better visualise the project before presentation. Presentation will be in person. The preferred format is a power point presentation. The second component, a 4000-word report, is where you identify and justify the chosen health issue, describe and then implement a process in which you develop a solution/intervention, and finally you discuss your new approach in relation to previous work and make recommendations for the future including how and why to evaluate the new solution/intervention.
