BASCP2 Instructions For Assignment

This section is made up of two parts focusing on person-centred planning and a topic of your choice. All parts must be answered. This assignment represents the failed element (FE) for this module. This assignment is worth 80% of the overall marks for this module.

Part 1: Person-Centred Planning (30 marks)

1. Outline the evolution of Person-Centred Planning and explain its purpose.
   (200 words; 10 marks)
2. Discuss four acceptable outcomes of Person-Centred Planning.
   (200 words; 10 marks)
3. Discuss fourkey challenges to implementing Person-Centred Planning.
   (200 words; 10 marks)

Part 2: Chosen topic

Choose ONE of the following topics:

Education, Health, Accommodation, Independent Living, Employment, Relationships and Leisure.

1. Explain why your chosen topic is important to consider for persons with disabilities in Ireland today.Include references to support your answer.
   (300 words; 20 Marks)
2. Select ONEinfluential lawORpolicy relating to your chosen topic that had/is having a significantimpact on the quality of opportunity and experience for persons with disabilities.
   Evaluate the (i) strengths and (ii) weakness of the law or policy and (iii) comment on its potential to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities.
   (500 words; 30 Marks)
3. Select a disability service provider that provides and/or supports the topic you have chosen. Provide the following information:

• Function of the service including mission statement and/or ethos if available
• History of/background to its development
• Profile of the service users
• Profile of the staff
• Explain how the service promotes your chosen topic.
