For this week's assignment, you will research and answer the following questions.
- To what extent should financial planning drive strategy vs. merely translating strategy into numbers, and how can misalignment between strategic plans and financial forecasts harm firm value?
- In what ways do budgeting and forecasting differ in purpose, process, and frequency, and what are the implications of relying too heavily on one versus the other?
- How should managers set “realistic” yet ambitious assumptions for revenue growth, margins, and capital needs, and what are the risks of optimistic versus conservative bias in these inputs?
