Academic Year2026

MED_6_DSM Dynamics and System Modelling

You will be required to prepare PowerPoint presentation slides to present the results of your laboratory experiments conducted in the system modelling lab. The slides should be clear, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the experiment.

The structure of your presentation should include the following sections:

  • Experiment title (Your name, student ID)
  • Aim of the experiment
  • Completed the steps of the experiment
  • Results and discussions (the three best output time response results for each task of the experiment (low, medium and high value of each PID gain).
  • Comment on observations of the behaviour state of the equipment at the PID gain values changes
  • Conclusions

The presentation should be limited to ten slides, with the recording lasting between 3 and 4 minutes. Ensure your recording clearly explains the behaviour of output responses, including stable, unstable, underdamped, overdamped, critically damped, and steady state error.
Additionally, describe how PID gain values impact the system's stability.

After submission, the Moodle Turnitin system will automatically check the similarity of your presentation slides. It is crucial not to copy and paste text from other sources. If the Moodle Turnitin similarity score exceeds 10%, your lab CW mark could be penalised and reduced to zero.

Your presentation will be marked according to the marking scheme below:

Criteria

Marking scheme

Marks

CR1

Quality presentation slides

Quality slides. Is this an accurate summary stating aims of the

Experiment: Is the experiment step explained clearly? Is the conclusion reflected on experiment results?

(4 marks)

CR2

Technical knowledge

Does the presentation clearly state the investigation of the experiment (what the investigation is trying to achieve)? Is the technical knowledge required to complete the investigation stated and explained clearly? Is there a satisfactory critical damp stable time response achieved for the system?

(5 marks)

CR3

Result and discussion

Results and discussion: Are the results presented correctly, and do they clearly explain the system’s output behaviour of time responses and point out all sources of errors?
